Add what you drank today and see how much caffeine is in your body right now, how much will still be there at bedtime, and when you drop below the level that lets you sleep. The calculator runs the same model as the Caffeine Clock app.

How the calculator works
Every drink is absorbed over time and then eliminated. Caffeine Clock models both: how fast each drink reaches your bloodstream (most drinks are 90 % absorbed within about 45 minutes) and how fast your body breaks it down, set by your caffeine half-life. A drink you sip over half an hour is spread over that half hour instead of arriving all at once.
Your half-life decides how long caffeine lingers. It is set to 5 hours by default; published figures put it at 3 to 6 hours for most adults, and it is shorter in smokers and longer in people taking oral contraceptives. If you know yours, set it under Change.
The green line is your sleep threshold, 100 mg by default. The European Food Safety Authority notes that 100 mg close to bedtime can affect sleep duration and patterns in some adults, and a sleep study found that 400 mg taken even 6 hours before bed still disrupted sleep. The calculator tells you whether you will be under your threshold at bedtime and when you cross it.
The results are estimates for a typical adult, not medical advice.
